One of the neat parts of this class is that we will have 2 panels who will come and share with the class. One will be Deaf adults and the other will be parents of children who are Deaf. Some of those parents will also be Deaf. They will be able to share with you their experiences and perspectives on this - that will be one view as they represent the Deaf Culture. It's interesting WHO gets to represent THE Deaf Culture.
One topic that I do not know a lot about are the type of resources or programs (different or the same as hearing students) that deaf students have in the school systems. I know that the resources used vary from student to student; however, I enjoy learning about the hands-on part of how we can help and listening to examples of various situations.
I would like to learn more about some of the technologies that are used to teach Deaf and hard of hearing children.
ReplyDeleteI would like to learn more about the Deaf culture views of mainstreaming vs. Deaf schools.
