I really enjoyed tonights class. I learned a lot about the different perspectives everyone has and more about how culture influences language. I think this video is a great way of showing how culture affects language. In this video Deaf people from various countries, each having their own signed language, are signing Amen. It is a word they all share and some even look alike but the way they express the same thing is still a little different.

This is an awesome video! Thanks for sharing this, it's neat to see all of the different signs for each country and it's cool to see that within each country the sings can vary.

ReplyDeleteThis video is really cool. I know we have talked about how different sign languages are around the world, but this is a great example to help demonstrate it. I found it really interesting how some countries had the same signs, though they were oceans apart as well.
