The assessments are a good review of the material we are learning. Now I understand the concept of Compare and Contrast, I feel I am really learning the material and not just memorizing for a test. Kudos to you Cathy for this testing approach.

  1. I appreciate the comment, Laura. My goal is the same today as it has been for the last 25 years in education. It is my responsibilty to create a learning environenment that is both engaging and challenging so that students will learn at the highest level possible.

I really am not about "playing the game of school" or "college." It's simple. I want students to recognize they can learn more than they ever realized they could.

I hope each student this semester is truly challenging himself/herself to learn! Glad you are.

  2. And I love that she allows us to collaborate with each other! The real world isn't a text book, it's finding the information you need and knowing where you could access it again if you needed to. I hate textbook tests because honestly after this class I will probably never open the book again but I will be able to know where I could find the information I needed and know how to better communicate with my peers who may be able to remember information.
