As I mentioned last night in class, I really find it interesting how we can all have such varying viewpoints when we all want what's best for the student. It just goes to show you that complex issues do not have simple solutions, despite how much we may want them to. As a future teacher, I really want to try to remember this life lesson because although I may think I know what's best for the student, several other people with differing ideas may feel they know what's best as well. In those situations, we have to all put personal differences aside and work together for the good of the student.

Excellent point, Lauren! I've been thinking about this too. And I agree with you... in the end we really just need to put our own biases aside and work TOGETHER for the utmost benefit for the student.
ReplyDeleteI agree! People's views about life will vary based on their experiences in life and the decisions they make can be made because of this. I try and keep an open mind to others so that I can see each person's perspective and not let my views get in the way of way the best decision for a child would be.
ReplyDeleteKerry has a good point. Keeping an open mind is key to this class, as well as to life! You can't get anywhere being close-minded, and uninterested and what other people have to say. The differing opinions, ideas, and beliefs is what makes the world go 'round!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right. I agree that it is very important to stay open minded to different cultures and viewpoints. This is a process that I believe will help any educational setting or classroom be more welcoming and be a better learning environment filled with positive and accepting people. Lauren, you made a good point about how important it is to collaborate and work with many different people, and put aside all biases and personal beliefs, to come up with a solution that best fits each individual student.
