Mother hears son for the first time..

Ok, I don't know how many of you watch the Drs. show, but I personally think it's one of the more interesting ones out there. I had never seen this episode but I think it's so cool! I'm not aware of everyones stance on CIs but, I believe for some they can be very beneficial. I love how the little boy reacts in this video! Precious:) Here's the link: Mother Hears Son for First Time

  1. That was such an amazing video. It's interesting how she went so long without realizing she was losing her hearing

  2. That is such a great video! It was so neat to see the mom hear her son's voice for the very first time. This is a good positive example of the impact that a cochlear implant can have for someone's life.

  5. That video was super touching! I found it really interesting that (even though she has been able to hear in the past), she stated that she "wasn't afraid of the surgery, but was afraid of hearing". I could understand that more from someone born dead. I guess she didnt want to be let down by her own thoughts of how she heard her son's voice in her head. Great video! Thanks

  6. Yes! I thought it was pretty cool how she had a voice in her head of what her son would sound like...I wonder if his actual voice matched what she thought he'd sound like? I will have to find the rest of this episode!

  8. This is so great! I cried at the end of the video. I agree that CIs may not be for everyone, but it's the individual and their family's decision, and in this case I think that this woman made the right decision! So touching!

  9. This video shows just how great cochlear implants can be and shows a great candidate for it as well. From my audiology class i learned the best people for CIs are those that are around 18 months or those older and already have language aquired. This video proves that.
