While her performance was beautiful and she did a very good job auditioning for the show, I find it sad how the judges are so surprised at her abilities. It seems like they assumed she would be a terrible dancer and would have no way of actually being a good dancer. I think people need to learn deaf and hearing impaired individuals are extremely smart and able people. I hope her audition will help other deaf and hearing impaired dancers go tryout for their dream and promote the deaf community in an even more positive way.
I loved this. Dancing is such a wonderful way to express yourself, and when people have passion for dancing it definitely shows. With her, you can tell that dancing is her passion. I think it is wonderful that she auditioned and didn't let being deaf stop her.
I couldn't wait to watch this after I saw contemporary dancer. I was a dancer once myself and I miss it very much so this really speaks to me. She was a beautiful dancer. I honestly don't think it is fair to fuss at any of the judges to be surprised by her ability. You never know what kind of exposure if any that they have had to deaf or hard of hearing people. I think they were surprised in a good way and they did not feel pity toward her they treated her just like all the other contestants. She made it to choreography because she was talented, but wasn't where the judges wanted her. They knew she was capable of even more than what they saw. I do not think this is a case of shock that she could do so well, I think this was in general she is a beautiful dancer and it is inspirational that she is deaf and doesn't let it get in her way like some people might.
