I thought Cathy's discussion at the end of class was empowering. All individuals, deaf or hearing, have the right to their own choices and opinions. Being deaf is certainly not a disability. It's simply a new way of learning.

  1. I thought this statement and discussion was very meaningful. While we were discussing this in class, I thought that any individual should have the right to make all choices for themselves since they are the ones who have to live with the consequences and outcomes. I liked how Mrs. White worded this statement, also. It gave a strong message.

  2. I loved this part of the class as well. The only thing that makes this idea complicated is when someone is not capable of making the decision for themselves, such as babies our young children. As a parent, it is impossible to know what your child will want in the future. However, parents will hopefully make the best educated decision they can make.

  3. This was my favorite part of the class too. I was really excited to actually get involved in the actual decision making aspect. I think that all any parent can hope to do is make the best choice they see available for their child.
