Last nights discussion
After pondering last nights lecture. I realized how many times the word communication was used. Most of us agreed that communication is crucial in a child's developmental process. When we began discussing residential and mainstreamed schools, I was intrigued. I understand why residential schools are sometimes better for some cases but really the child's environment (to me) is one of the biggest factors and influences on their lives. You learn through your family and friends because children are around them more often.

I think this is such a valid point!! Communication is key for any person to succeed, whatever method they prefer. Although the idea of a residential school often comes with a negative connotation, perhaps we ought to be a little more willing to hear the benefits before we make any judgements. Each individual's needs are different, and therefore we cannot make a complex decision (like choosing where someone's child will be educated) a cut-and-dry answer. Each student is different which means the decisions made in their best interest may be different as well.
